August Robotics banked €28.4M ($30M) Series B funding to scale its autonomous fleet technology for construction and large-scale events. Greek venture capital firm Big Pi Ventures led the round, which included participation from Blackbird, Skip Capital, Tanarra, Future Family Office, and GS Futures.
The company develops a modular robotics platform that executes physical tasks on-site using project plans and real-time error detection. Its current product line includes Lionel, a fleet of robots for autonomous floor-marking in exhibition halls, and a newer drilling robot designed for prefabricated construction sites. This latter technology specifically targets the rapid build-out of hyperscale AI data centers.
Founded by Alex Wyatt, the firm operates seven global hubs across the US, Asia, and Australia. The fresh capital supports the launch of a new operational base in Athens and a Data and AI R&D centre in Melbourne. The Athens hub will manage customer service, maintenance, and field engineering for the EMEA region, tapping into the local engineering talent pool.
This investment underscores a growing trend of specialised hardware firms establishing European operational nodes to service the region's expanding digital infrastructure requirements.
