Avendar raises €2.2M Seed round to scale sovereign AI for the public sector

Avendar banked €2.2M in a Seed funding round led by LUMO Labs. The investment includes participation from Rabobank, supporting the Dutch startup’s ambition to build a sovereign European alternative to non-EU data analytics platforms.

The Utrecht-based company develops an AI-driven platform designed specifically for government agencies and public sector organisations. Its technology enables users to integrate and analyse vast datasets from disparate sources in a secure environment. By focusing on data sovereignty, the software allows authorities to maintain control over sensitive information while using automated tools for investigative and operational decision-making.

The capital is earmarked for technical development and expanding the team to meet growing demand from public institutions seeking to reduce dependency on foreign providers like Palantir. The founders aim to align the platform with European regulatory standards, ensuring that data processing remains compliant with local privacy and security mandates.

As European governments increasingly prioritise digital autonomy, startups that localise critical data infrastructure are securing significant early-stage backing from regional institutional investors.
