Humara raises €1.2M to digitise waste plant infrastructure

Humara banked €1.2M in a Seed round led by Impact Shakers to accelerate the digitisation of waste management infrastructure. New investor Inclimo participated in the raise, alongside existing backers Zubi Capital, Ship2B Ventures, and a syndicate of angel investors.

Based in Galicia, the startup provides a SaaS platform that automates the design and operation of recycling and waste treatment plants. The software uses a physics-based simulation engine to model 82 different waste materials through sorting equipment, allowing engineering teams to generate mass balances and equipment specifications in days rather than months.

The company is also rolling out "Duplantis", an AI-driven tool for live plant operations. This system integrates real-time SCADA signals and data from optical sorters to create digital twins of waste facilities, helping operators adjust settings to improve recovery rates and reduce operational downtime.

As European regulations tighten around circular economy targets, infrastructure providers are increasingly turning to vertical SaaS to modernise the legacy engineering processes that currently underpin waste processing.
