Moonlight AI banked €2.8 million ($3.3 million) in Seed funding to scale its clinical-grade diagnostic software. The round was co-led by Singapore’s Lotus One Investment, Switzerland’s VP Venture Partners, and Tunisia’s MEDIN Fund. Additional participation came from N&V Capital and existing investor QAI Ventures.
The Basel-based startup develops computer vision technology that identifies genomic biomarkers and disease signatures directly from routine blood and cytology smears. By analysing standard medical images, the software provides insights typically reserved for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). This approach allows laboratories to triage molecular testing and reduce the turnaround times associated with precision oncology.
Founded in 2022, the company designs its tools to integrate with existing laboratory imaging hardware. The primary goal is to bypass the high costs and manual bottlenecks of traditional genomic testing, enabling haematologists and pathologists to make treatment decisions based on automated 2D image analysis rather than waiting for complex sequencing results.
The fresh capital is earmarked for the expansion of Moonlight AI’s proprietary data library and further development of its diagnostic workflows. This raise reflects a sustained interest in Swiss healthtech firms that apply specialised AI models to standardise and accelerate pathology outcomes for global healthcare providers.
