The Copenhagen-based company develops AI-driven infrastructure for precision agriculture. Its primary product is a tractor-roof-mounted sensor box that uses edge AI to scan fields in real-time. This system allows for precise spraying at a resolution of 2–10 centimetres, which the company claims can reduce herbicide use by up to 90% and fertiliser application by 30%.
By generating high-resolution imagery and actual photos of individual plants, Perplant provides a data foundation for farmers to document sustainable practices for banks, insurers, and regulators. The startup has already mapped 200,000 hectares across Europe and currently operates in multiple markets including the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain, with a 15-person team managing the expansion.
As European regulations tighten around chemical runoff and soil health, hardware-enabled data platforms are becoming a critical bridge between traditional farming operations and the documentation requirements of green subsidies.
