WeRoad banked €49 million ($58 million) in a Series C round led by Airbnb to fuel its expansion into the North American market. Existing investor H14 also participated in the raise, which brings the Milan-based company’s total funding to €85 million ($100 million).
WeRoad operates an adventure travel platform that connects solo travellers with group itineraries led by a community of more than 4,000 "coordinators". The company focuses on building real-world social connections through shared experiences, offering over 1,000 distinct itineraries globally. Its service model relies heavily on community engagement, with the company reporting that 60% of customers rebook annually.
The investment follows significant growth for the travel operator, which recently branched out from group trips into local social events via its WeMeet brand. The participation of Airbnb marks a strategic validation for the company as it attempts to export its European community-driven model to the United States. Previous funding includes an €18 million Series B closed in late 2023.
This capital reflects a broader 2026 trend of high-conviction bets on the "experience economy" and travel technology in Italy, following recent significant raises by local peers such as Smartness and profitize.
