Oxford Quantum Circuits secures €308M Series C for global hardware deployment

Oxford Quantum Circuits banked €308M ($350m) Series C funding in a round led by Bullhound Capital. The capital injection is supported by a broad consortium including the British Business Bank, Fynveur, Cofides, Fulcrum Asset Management, Pentland Ventures, Magdalen College Oxford, Oxford Capital, and Firgun. US firms Alpha Edison and 18 West, along with Singapore’s Adaptive Capital Partners, also participated in what marks the largest funding round for a private European quantum company to date.

The Reading-based scaleup builds quantum computers using superconducting qubits, a hardware approach similar to those used by IBM and Google. OQC distinguishes itself through a "quantum computing as a service" model, deploying its hardware directly into third-party data centres operated by Equinix and Digital Realty. This allows enterprise customers in regulated sectors like finance and defence to access quantum processing units (QPUs) alongside classical infrastructure without moving sensitive data off-site.

OQC has already established a footprint with systems live in Tokyo, London, and New York, plus a dedicated on-premise installation at the CESGA supercomputing centre in Spain. The new funds will support the development of next-generation systems moving beyond the current 32-qubit architecture, aiming for commercial-scale applications where quantum processors handle specific complex workloads that classical CPUs and GPUs cannot efficiently process.

This record-breaking raise signals the maturation of Europe’s deeptech ecosystem as investors shift from speculative research bets toward infrastructure-ready quantum hardware.
