Oxford Quantum Circuits secures €301M to scale data-centre quantum platform

Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) banked €301 million ($350 million) in an oversubscribed Series C round. Bullhound Capital led the investment, which OQC describes as Europe’s largest private funding round for a quantum computing company. The raise featured participation from a broad group of new and existing backers including the British Business Bank, Alpha Edison, Oxford Science Enterprises, SBI, and Chevron Technology Ventures.

The company develops and operates superconducting quantum computers specifically designed for deployment within data-centre environments. Unlike many experimental systems, OQC’s hardware integrates directly into commercial infrastructure to provide what it calls Quantum-Compute-as-a-Service. The platform is currently utilised by enterprise and government clients across financial services, defence, and security to manage workloads that exceed the capacity of classical computing.

OQC previously raised approximately €44 million in a 2022 Series A round. The new capital is earmarked for international expansion across its priority markets in Europe, North America, and Asia—where it already has systems deployed in the UK, Spain, Japan, and the US—and to accelerate its technical roadmap toward fault-tolerant quantum computing.

The scale of this round signals a shift in the European deep-tech ecosystem, moving away from theoretical research towards the deployment of sovereign quantum infrastructure suitable for industrial-scale AI and data processing.
