UroMems banked €55.2M ($60M) in a growth funding round led by Ajax Health. The financing is structured to support the French medtech firm as it moves toward the large-scale clinical application of its flagship medical implant technology.
The Grenoble-based company develops the UroMems SAMSTM (Smart Artificial Urinary Sphincter), an electronic artificial sphincter designed to treat stress urinary incontinence. Unlike traditional mechanical solutions, the system is a smart, automated device that adjusts its occlusion pressure based on a patient's activity and physiological needs, aiming to improve quality of life for both men and women suffering from the condition.
This capital injection follows the successful completion of the first clinical implants in men and the initiation of a pivotal clinical trial in the United States. The funds will be utilised to complete these large-scale clinical studies and prepare the regulatory filing necessary for international commercialisation.
The scale of the round reflects a robust appetite for European medtech companies that combine high-precision engineering with digital health capabilities to address high-volume chronic health conditions.
